Design Pine H3 Weatherboards & External Cladding
Primed H3 Pine Weatherboards, Shiplap and Lining Boards
Re-cladding a weatherboard home, building an extension, or lining a veranda ceiling? Design Pine H3 comes pre-primed and treated for above-ground exterior use, so the boards go up ready for a topcoat. We stock rusticated weatherboards in 138×18 and 185×18, a 166×18 chamfer board, 138×18 VJ shiplap, 90×18 tongue and groove, and 138×11 lining boards in #302 V Joint and #321 Regency, most in 5.4m lengths. Baltic Pine check and chamfered weatherboard in 175×25 rounds out the range.
Weatherboard and Lining Profiles
Pick the profile to match the house or the look you are after. Rusticated weatherboards give the classic Australian weatherboard line, in 138mm or a wider 185mm face. The chamfer board suits a crisp, angled shadow line, while VJ shiplap and tongue and groove give a flatter, grooved finish for walls, gables and feature panels. The 138×11 #302 and #321 lining boards are used on eaves, veranda and alfresco ceilings, and external soffits where a painted timber face is wanted.
Primed, Treated and Guaranteed
Design Pine is made from plantation grown Radiata pine, finger jointed and laminated for dimensional stability, with natural defects removed in manufacturing to reduce bowing, twisting and resin bleed. Each board is impregnated with an organically based, heavy-metal-free preservative for above-ground protection against rot, decay, fungi and wood-boring insects. The factory primer adds UV protection and a moisture-managed system, is compatible with Australian solvent-based and acrylic topcoats, and Design Pine carries a limited 25-year durability guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Design Pine?
Design Pine is a pre-primed, H3 treated Radiata pine for above-ground exterior use. It is finger jointed and laminated for stability and comes primed, ready for a topcoat.
Do Design Pine weatherboards need painting?
Yes. Design Pine is supplied primed, so it needs a quality solvent-based or acrylic topcoat once installed. The primer is compatible with Australian topcoats.
Can H3 treated pine weatherboards be used outside?
Yes. H3 treatment is for above-ground exterior use, which covers weatherboards, gables, fascias and veranda linings. It is not for in-ground use.
What is the difference between rusticated and chamfer weatherboards?
Rusticated weatherboards have a curved, stepped profile that gives the classic weatherboard line. Chamfer boards have an angled edge for a crisper shadow line. BBS stocks both in Design Pine H3.
What guarantee does Design Pine have?
Design Pine is covered by a limited 25-year durability guarantee for above-ground exterior use.
