Adjustable Steel Subfloor Piers and Post Supports

Levelling a subfloor, replacing rotten timber stumps, or setting bearers on a new build? Uni-Pier is a galvanised steel pier system that supports subfloor bearers and posts, and adjusts up or down after install where brick, concrete, or timber stumps cannot. We stock both builders grade and heavy grade piers, in post stirrup heights from 200mm to 2800mm, with fixed and adjustable heads. Whether it is one pier to pack a sagging floor or a full set for a new subfloor, you get a corrosion-resistant support you can fine-tune on site.

How the Uni-Pier System Works

Uni-Pier replaces traditional brick, concrete, or timber subfloor supports with a two-part steel system built to adjust. Once a brick or concrete pier is set, adjusting it is nearly impossible; the Uni-Pier lets you raise or lower the support for the right bearing height. The head carries a built-in ant cap and cleats that secure timber or steel bearers, and the post is a steel tubular section welded to a base plate that anchors to a footing or pad. The whole pier is hot-dip galvanised for strength and corrosion resistance in the subfloor, where temperature and humidity swing.

Builders Grade or Heavy Grade

The grade follows the load and the wind exposure. Builders grade piers use a 65×65×2mm hollow steel post, with the head sleeve sliding over the post, and reach up to 4000mm. Heavy grade piers step up to a 75×75×2.5mm post, with the head inserted into the post, and reach up to 5000mm. Wind region is often what decides the grade, so heavier exposure calls for heavy grade. Both grades work in load-bearing and non-load-bearing subfloor applications, and both come in a full run of post stirrup heights from 200mm up to 2800mm to match the clearance under the floor.

What Goes With It

A subfloor needs the bearers and fixings to go with the piers. The head cleats secure the bearer, and our timber connectors, brackets, and fixings handle the rest of the tie-downs. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Uni-Pier?

A Uni-Pier is a galvanised steel subfloor support that replaces brick, concrete, or timber stumps. It comes in two parts, a head with a built-in ant cap and a steel post welded to a base plate, and it can be adjusted up or down after install.

What is the difference between builders grade and heavy grade Uni-Pier?

Builders grade uses a 65×65×2mm post and reaches up to 4000mm, with the head sliding over the post. Heavy grade uses a 75×75×2.5mm post and reaches up to 5000mm, with the head inserted into the post. Wind region and load usually decide the grade.

Can Uni-Piers be adjusted after installation?

Yes. Unlike brick or concrete piers, the Uni-Pier system can be raised or lowered after install to set the right bearing height, which makes it useful for levelling floors and packing settlement.

Are Uni-Piers suitable for load-bearing use?

Both builders grade and heavy grade Uni-Piers work in load-bearing and non-load-bearing subfloor applications. The head cleats secure timber or steel bearers, and the post anchors to a footing or pad.

What height Uni-Pier do I need?

Uni-Pier posts come in stirrup heights from 200mm up to 2800mm, reaching to 4000mm in builders grade and 5000mm in heavy grade. Call 1300 554 775 to match the grade and height to your subfloor clearance.
