Pine Beams GL15C
Pine Beams GL15C
GL15C Pine Beams
GL15C pine beams are glue-laminated softwood structural beams, a light, strong, straight alternative to steel and LVL for high-load and long-span work. Use them for lintels, bearers, joists, roof beams, rafters, columns, portal frames, and garage beams, indoors or out. We stock them in two grades: Pine Beams H2 for termite-protected internal use, and Pine Beams H3 for exposed external applications, across a range of sizes and lengths.
Lightweight, Laminated for Strength
GL15C beams are glue-laminated for a high strength-to-weight ratio, which makes them lighter to handle and easier to install than steel on high-load or long-span jobs. Long, straight, and stable, they hold their line where the span matters, and they cut, nail, and connect like timber, so there is no special trade or plant needed to work them. For builders, that means a structural beam you can put up with the crew you have, not a crane.
H2 or H3: Match the Grade to the Job
The grade is the choice that matters. H2 beams are termite-protected for structural use kept dry inside the building envelope, the standard for internal lintels and bearers. H3 beams are treated for exposed, above-ground outdoor use, protecting against decay and the weather for pergolas, verandahs, and exposed roof beams. Pick H2 for inside, H3 for anything in the weather.
What Goes With It
Structural beams need rated connections. Post caps, brackets, and framing connectors sized for beams are stocked here, with the structural screws and bolts to fix them, and for H3 work use Class 3 or stainless fixings to match the exposure. Frequently Asked Questions
What is a GL15C pine beam?
A glue-laminated structural softwood beam, made by bonding timber laminations for a high strength-to-weight ratio. Used for lintels, bearers, rafters, roof beams, columns, and portal frames.
What is the difference between H2 and H3 pine beams?
H2 is termite-protected for structural use kept dry inside the building envelope. H3 is treated for exposed, above-ground outdoor use against decay and weather. Choose H2 for internal, H3 for external.
Is GL15C the same as LVL?
No. GL15C is glue-laminated timber, glulam, made from solid timber laminations, while LVL is made from bonded veneers. Both are engineered structural beams; the right one depends on your span, load, and application.
What fixings should I use?
Use beam-rated connectors and structural fixings. For H3 external work, use Class 3 galvanised or stainless fixings to match the exposure. Call 1300 554 775 for help matching them.
What sizes are available?
GL15C is stocked in a range of sections and lengths across the H2 and H3 grades. Call 1300 554 775 or check the H2 and H3 product pages for current sizing.
