Sleeve anchors, also called dynabolts, are the standard fixing for structural loads into concrete, brick, and block. They work by expanding against the sides of a drilled hole as the bolt is tightened, creating a mechanical lock rated for both shear and tension. When to Use a Sleeve Anchor
Sleeve anchors are the right call when the load is too heavy for a concrete screw and you need a rated pull-out strength. Typical applications include balustrade posts, structural brackets, machinery bases, handrails, and heavy-duty shelving fixed into concrete floors or walls.
Installation follows the same principle as a concrete screw: drill, clean, insert, and tighten. The difference is the sleeve, which expands radially as the nut is driven up the cone-shaped bolt shank, increasing the grip force with every turn. M10 and M12 anchors cover the majority of residential structural applications. M16 and M20 are for commercial, industrial, and high-load scenarios.
